Recommendation befor surgery
- Provide information on the illness, benefits and complications of surgery
- Preoperative antibiotic prophylaxis of the patient as prescribed by a physician
- Perform pre-operative patient consultations or paraclinical procedures as directed by the treating physician
- Request a patient's blood reservation as prescribed by a physician
- NPO being a preoperative patient
- Preparation and emptying of the patient's bowel and bladder before surgery as instructed by a physician
- ECG for all patients over 40, CXR for patients over 60 and CBC before surgery
- Removal of prosthetic teeth, prostheses, and jewelry before surgery
- Preparation and skin preparation of the patient's surgery area, prior to surgery
- Provide patient preoperative training on how to move in bed, deep breathing, how to urinate, diet and any postoperative cooperation.
- Patient privacy with proper coverage by a nurse
- Use of homogeneous personnel in patient transfer to operating room
- Patient Transfer by Stretcher/ Wheelchair to operating room with nurse and nurse assistant
- Ensure that the patient's vital signs before surgery are alert and stable
- Ensure proper and safe transfer of the patient's condition (proper positioning, sheathing and high adhesion) to the operating room bed
- Prior to surgery, informed consent is required with sufficient information about the benefits and disadvantages of the patient's treatment and the patient's companion.
